THE WORLD OF ANCIESE CHINESE INK WASH HANDSCROLLS
Calligraphy and painting, as vital components of Chinese art, do more than just depict natural landscapes and unique cultural heritage. They represent the artist's profound understanding of the universe, nature, and the philosophy of life.
Using a long horizontal scroll as the medium, this work fully presents the majestic beauty and legendary character of miraculous stones. The most distinctive feature of this masterpiece is the alternating use of diverse calligraphic scripts: the fluidity of Running-Cursive, the archaic simplicity of Clerical, and the dignified elegance of Regular script shine together in a unified rhythmic flow. As the scroll slowly unfurls, viewers feel as if they are stepping into a time tunnel of calligraphic evolution, appreciating both the aesthetic essence of the stones—slenderness, texture, openness, and perforations—and the artistic cadence of the artist's brushwork as it rises and falls with emotion.

Deshuo Wang studied under renowned masters such as Xiaoyao Yao and Bingsen Liu, and is proficient in all four major styles of calligraphy. Through his painting and calligraphy, he has grasped the principle of "Pursue higher art" that art should carry profound moral or spiritual significance. He insists on the unity of art and inner spirituality, integrating this philosophy into his calligraphic creations.
His distinctive style is best exemplified by his Clerical Script (Lishu), from which he has forged his own school—the "Deshuo Lishu". This unique style is characterized by Clerical Script as the fundamental structure, Running Script imparting dynamic energy, and an organic fusion of Clerical and Running Scripts.
In painting, he carries on the Baishi Qi school's style while also incorporating a modern aesthetic. His works have been collected across many regions, including Mainland China, the United States, Thailand, Japan, Russia, Canada, and South Korea, and have been featured in international touring exhibitions.
